Since we opened our doors, in 2011, we have offered over a thousand Free or By donation Yoga and Meditation classes. We have given Hundreds of workshops and events; Hosted over 150 Volunteer teachers introduced thousands of students to yoga, and we helped transform the many lives of the community that we serve.We have an open door policy. We opened our doors to anyone who is not able to afford yoga. We are not funded or receive grants from the government. We keep our doors open by donations from our community and by innovative fundraisers like Yogathons and Special Events that engage the community.In the past, we have worked with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Covenant House, and Butterflies in Spirit. We had special classes for Eating Disorders, Youth Empowerment, Workshop for teaching Kids with Autism, Nutrition,Queer Kundalini and Karma Teachers KIDS. We have current programs with Beauty Night Society for Impoverished Women and Kundalini for Mental Health and Addictions. We are launching new and expanded programs for Eating Disorders, At-risk Youth, LGBTQ, Aboriginal Youth, and more classes for the general public.
For the public, we offer up to 6 classes per day (morning and afternoon) we will be launching lunch classes very soon. We have also hosted the popular Rainbow Kids Teacher Training four times and we are launching our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in January 2014 which will be true to our cause of making it accessible for everyone by offering full and partial scholarships.
Karma Teachers is on 45 WEST HASTINGS on the top floor of a heritage building in Gastown. We have 2200 sq.ft. of shared studio space with high ceilings, hardwood floors, brick and timber construction. Non gendered washrooms are available.
